New Students

KCS-140106-0198

We understand what it is like to be a beginner and understand that sometimes the process of starting yoga can seem daunting.  At Jai Rhythm we celebrate the courage it takes to begin practicing yoga and our community is here to support you. We are honored for the opportunity to share yoga with you and will guide you to a strong foundation in the practice.

You’re welcome to join any of our classes any time by dropping in. You can even reserve your space online in advance using our Schedule page here.

Complete our waiver online to save time before visiting Jai Rhythm here.

If you are new to yoga, we encourage you to take our Roots classes which will move more slowly and focus on the fundamentals of flow yoga.

We also highly recommend taking our Foundation Immersion Workshop which will break down all the basics of yoga in an easy and accessible learning environment.

For the best results, we recommend practicing at least 3-4 times per week to get consistent benefits that a Jai Rhythm Yoga practice can offer you.

You can bring your own yoga mat or you are welcome to use one of our mats for a rental of $2.

Please bring a towel as you will sweat, probably a lot. We also have small and large towels that you can rent.

We have showers and lockers rooms available for you to use. Please be considerate of others and mindful of water shortages in the state of California when showering and please limit your shower length to a quick rinse.

Dress in clothing that allows you to move freely and be comfortable.

Please avoid eating any large meals at least 2 hours before you plan to take a yoga class.

There is ample parking nearby the studio on the street and there’s a lot across the street. For more info about parking, visit our Parking page.

Give yourself extra time your first visit to the studio to registered, get checked in and set up.

Check out our Studio Tips page for more info.

Relax, breathe, and have fun!

Jai Rhythm Yoga Left Off “Best Of Ventura” Ballot

July 16, 2014 Dear Ventura County Reporter, I am disappointed and disheartened by the exclusion of Jai Rhythm Yoga in the drop-down list of choices in the Yoga Studio section in the current Best Of Ventura Vote sponsored by the Ventura County Reporter. It is difficult to understand how the Ventura County Reporter could omit adding a thriving yoga community and perhaps the busiest yoga studio in the county to the ballot. Last year, within weeks of opening our doors, Jai Rhythm was selected by Ventura County Reporter as the Editor’s Pick...

We Got a New Sign

We Got a New Sign

We are grateful for our new sign for Jai Rhythm Yoga. The process of getting our sign was a great reminder of patience and honoring the process of allowing things to unfold in their own time. We are fortunate for Vogue Signs for doing such an excellent job with the execution of the design, created by our designer Lisa Mendelow. This sign is an excellent reminder of the necessity of compromise and working together toward a shared goal. We hope this sign will inspire community and illuminate the practice of yoga in Ventura. Jai! Share...

Yoga is Healthy Risk Taking

Yoga is Healthy Risk Taking

Taking small risks in each asana when we practice yoga helps us learn to move beyond our often truncated version of reality. At certain moments, we come face to face with ourselves and our bodies, and we are given the opportunity to explore what happens when we breathe into these places. I have often wondered how I can become frightened or afraid while simply holding a pose and breathing. Eventually, if we keep practicing, we often see that what we were scared of in the first place dissolves with our presence and breath. It amazes me at how...

The Power of a Beginner’s Mindset

The Power of a Beginner’s Mindset

The mindset of a beginner is a valuable tool in our approach to yoga practice. As we move from asana to asana during our practice, we are constantly asked to reconcile the differences between our perceived reality and our actual current reality. We are confronted with this choice over and over again moving an asana practice – to identify with the stream of thoughts in our minds or to identify the the truth of our own breath, the truth of the sensations we are feeling, to stand in the reality, upright and calm. When we are able to...

Review by Jai Rhythm Student Kelly Hill

“Three words…Jai Rhythm rocks!!!  But I can’t stop at that…this studio is awesome.  It’s real-deal–you’ll be excited to come and you’ll leave feeling renewed.  Sometimes you’ll find the perfect flow, and sometimes you won’t.  And it’s all good.  Colin often says, “It’s called yoga practice, not yoga perfect.”  There’s no attitude at Jai Rhythm…the instructors are welcoming, calming, fun, funny, and real.  They are aware of the different levels of...

Soul Surfer Retreat

Announcing a magical week of renewal, relaxation and adventure with Jai Rhythm at the premier eco-retreat Haramara near Sayulita, Mexico the week of April 4th-11th 2015   We all come to our yoga mats seeking various benefits from our practice. If we practice consistently with dedication, we may even begin to feel some of of these benefits that initially brought us to our mats. We may start to trust our yoga practice even more and begin looking for ways to experience more of the peace we have cultivated on our mats. While many of us would like...
